This is my recent discovery or should I say, new trick. It's not very difficult so I think I should just share the trick to you all:
In my avatar, I use this KK pic: Clicky. But you can go find another celeb pic as you like.
1. Open your Adobe Photoshop, click new, and set the size 100x100
2. After the blank canvas appears, open your celeb pic
3. Drag it to the blank canvas
4. Resize the picture so that it fits the canvas. For this technique, I highly recommend you to resize the pic so that the celeb's face fills the entire canvas, like this
5. Duplicate the layer. To do it, you need to have 'Layer' Window first. Click Window, then click 'Layer' as checked. You'll see a small box on the right bottom of your Photoshop. Make sure the layer 1 is highlighted. Then, right click on it, and click "Duplicate Layer"
6. Nothing change? I know, but we're going to make it different. Now, make sure the layer highlighted is Layer 1 Copy
7. Go to Filter --> Blur More, or you can try any other blur effects. To make the picture looks more blur, you don't need to open Filter and do the same thing again, just hit CTRL+F repeatedly.
8. If you think your picture is blur enough, now, it's time for finishing touch! Click on the Eraser too. Select the soft-edged brush. Select the opacity too. It's better if it's less than 100. You acn select the master diameter as you like, as long as the eraser brush fits the celeb's face, because we're going to erase the celeb's face.
9. Slowly, erase the celeb's face, slow and steady. Do not erase the whole picture. Just erase the celeb's face. Leave the blurry side.
And...you're finished. Those are the basic steps to make a blurry effect avatar, you can add more effects like sharpening the pic.
