And I know you all know about this stuff. I know the site is new and young, but this wouldnt hurt, even if it isnt used for a month or so.
Basically, have several threads in the Announcements board. One for each class of character. And every two months or so, have a check. Give everyone 2 weeks to post in the relevant threads to prove theve been active. If they dont reply after the 2 weeks, then their character is taken off of them.

I have to disagree with you Hestia I think that Activity checks are a nusence and I think you should give them more time. What if there computer broke down and they couldn't tell anyone?

You have a point, I just think that if there is a canon character and they are not online enough, then it is a wasted chance for someone else. Thats just my opinion

I can speak as a person who doesn't like Activity checks but has used them successfully in this situation. If you have a character that is removed from you because you went inactive through events out of your control such as illness or hardware malfunction or service revocation (In other words if your comp stops working, your internet or electricity fails or you fall ill) and you come back, all you need to do is PM Hera and explain why you missed the activity check and your character is returned. If it happens again at the next activity check you have to go through the bio process again.
That way your character is never officially taken from you. The only down side is someone may have taken your character by the time you come back. To solve that problem simply place characters that missed the deadline on reserved for another two weeks. Someone can still apply for and go through an accepted bio but it is only temporary for two weeks. If you have been gone for a month or more (the two week activity check and the two week reserved list) and when you return your character is taken you are simply SOL (stuff oughtta luck).
If you say you are on vacation or say you won't be able to get to the computer for a while in the vacation or missing board, you are simply immune from that activity check unless you specifically say that you will be back before or during the activity check.
Does that make sense or did it just go over your head.

I honestly don't like Activity Check either because it demands members to always keep active and never forget the site.

which is more or less the same reason why I dislike them. However on sites like this where practically every character is cannon or on other sites where there are only a baker's dozen or so important parts you have to make sure whoever holds those positions is active because if your site is as successful as this site is there is probably a long line a people waiting to pick up the torch if someone disappears and drops theirs. Do you think for one minute that is Hades or Apollo were to show up one day and say "I'm sorry I can't dedicate my time to the site anymore and I have to call it quits" that they wouldn't be reserved by someone within 24 hours? the same goes for half the other Olympians on the site.
Its on these sites that activity checks are usually needed more. On sites where almost everyone is an original character and there are dozens of ever expanding positions not so much.
If you did it every two months or had the deadline to post be a full month that would be a bit more reasonable that the last two weeks or every or every other month. Because if you can't log in once in an entire month and you haven't posted anything anywhere saying you will be gone, you are probably just inactive and won't miss the character. And then like I said before the character would be on a reserved list for another two weeks and if no one has it when they get back and it is the first time they went inactive, they get it back no problems.
That's the last of my ideas so if you guys still don't think you need an activity check or don't want one, its probably for the best.
(PS I just now realized that the words on your siggy are from Rihanna - Umbrella. No reason for bringing it up just wondering if anyone else noticed it before and I'm just really slow lol)

I agree, Ares. Maybe every 3 months and then another month to reply. Anyway, It's up to Hera as it is her site. Oh, and by the way, I just remeber that Demeter is Artemis' sister in real life, so she won't be active until Artemis is, am I right? ((And Ares I did notice it, but that doesnt mean your stupid ))

Ah...not really, just because this is my site, I can't do things what members don't desire. In my opinion, activity check is like an emergency button for admins whose site starts to lose activity. In my old site, I usually mass email members to keep them active, but now I know that mass email is kind of annoying. So I won't do it now.
I think to keep a site active is to keep interacting with members, like chatting in general board, unless if the site's really dead, maybe there's another way to make it back to life besides activity check.
Yes, that's true they're sisters, but Artemis is more active. But however, I hope Demeter will return to the site. I'd really love to RP with her as a sister.
(I agree with Hestia. Before I searched for the lyric to be put in the sig, I didn't know the lyrics either. Maybe I wouldn't have noticed it either if I hadn't put the lyrics there)

Say IF this site goes inactive, what do you think we should do other than the irritating and annoying activity check? You think mass email would do good to bring members back?

Well, if it was me, I would email everyone, not PM, email. If no one is active after like 2 weeks, then there character may be taken. But thats my opinion

You're right Hestia, hopefully members don't get annoyed to receive mass email. I know that mass PM in this case won't work, because members won't even log in to the site.
Well, I just said if. Let's hope this site will be always active *fingers crossed*

Well I don't know if you have considered this, but I guessing not all of your active members check their emails regularly so a mass email might be unnoticed by some.
