Hey, if you've found this letter, don't stop reading it, our lives depend on you.
We are the patients of Waverly Hills Asylum, a "special place" for teens struggling with mental illnesses. Only we're not suffering from mental illnesses, we're all perfectly healthy, pretty smart too...
You've seen the commercials and the pretty brochures. You see happy kids undergoing normal treatment by caring, kind doctors and nurses. The parents who get taken through see well-adjusted kids getting three good squares a day, sleeping in nicely furnished rooms and avidly pursuing various intrests.
Yeah. Too bad that's just an illusion. We get three squares a day... of slop. We sleep in nice rooms... if you can call two people to a tiny square room with a bathroom and either bars on the windows or no windows nice. As I said, none of us have mental illnesses.
We're here because we have special powers. Like one person can make things fly through the air, another can fly, that kind of thing. The doctors torture us with their "treatments" and when they're not doing that, we're being trained to fight. Though for what, we don't know.
You see, back when this place was a Tuberculosis Hospital, they kept the real hard cases on the 5th floor, the psychos with TB... only, like us, they weren't crazy, just gifted, now one of the orignal doctor's protegès is trying his mentor's methods again, and on people no one would suspect or even care about.
Troubled teens like us.
Now the doctors have stooped to a new low, admitting normal kids and injecting them with DNA like ours to see if they develop powers. Others, they inject something that causes them to lose their powers so that the doctors can inject them with different DNA.
Few have escaped, those that have are hiding out in the city, plotting ways to release us all.
If you think you can help us, be careful, there are spies everywhere and no one who figures out the truth is safe.
Oh yeah, did I forget to mention that Waverly Hills Asylum is haunted?
