Physical Appearance: No more than an inch or two above average height, with a lean build, Tyche is not one to inspire fear from appearances alone. Her reddish-brown hair stops just above her bust, and it is often held back from her face by a small hair accessory. Her cloudy blue eyes have a mischievous spark. Along with her equally mischievous smile, it often seems that she’s up to something; which she usually is. Her skin tone is pale, despite her spending plenty of time out in the sun.

Personality Description: A cheerfully irresponsible being, with little sense of duty or obligation. She’s usually friendly, though she likes to tease people, and make jokes that only she understands. Unfortunately, this has led her to be misunderstood on numerous occasions; however, she doesn’t let this deter her from trying to brighten up someone’s day—even if they don’t want her to. And this is one of the many things she would rather be attending to than her duties. A well-known procrastinator, she will indulge her latest interest (which she changes on a weekly basis) rather than observe this ceremony, or that sacrifice. In most things, she likes to adhere to the stubborn part of her nature, and hates giving up.

Unfortunately for some, Tyche also is a bit of a practical joker. Once in a while, she will find a mortal she thinks is funny, and take to changing their fortune for the worse. She doesn’t really mean any harm in it—she hates killing people, or doing what she thinks of as permanent damage—but her pranks can sometimes go too far. Despite her carefree attitude, she hates being insulted (unless the insult amuses her), especially regarding her appearance, since she is particularly vain. If she is directly contradicted in a situation that she is actually serious about, she can degenerate into shouting, and acting like a spoiled child. And she is more than happy to seek vengeance far worse than the crime. She is also fickle and impulsive, rarely sticking to one thing for very long. On the other hand, she can also demonstrate incredible loyalty; it depends mostly on her mood, which, like her, can be unpredictable.

Powers/Abilities: Tyche possesses the power to increase (or decrease) the luck of pretty much anything she wants, from an individual’s to an entire city’s. In other words, she increases the probability of something good or bad happening, in the most general sense. If you want to pray to her for a small, specific event, such as winning the bet you have going with your friends, you’re out of luck. A side effect of this power is that she and people who spend enough time with her tend to be lucky, whether or not she’s purposely given them her blessing.

Family:
Although associated with the Moirae, she is not actually related directly, nor is she an Oceanid. Instead, she is a daughter of Hermes and Aphrodite.

History: Tyche grew up on Olympus, but she frequented the world of mortals almost as much as she remained on the sacred mountain. Most of her time was spent with old men gambling (they thought she was a lost girl from a rich family, and she didn’t correct them), or whoever struck her as interesting at the time.

Even when she was fully-grown, she continued to visit the mortals, taking one or two short-lived lovers from among them. Her divine aspect gained her more fame, although that never stopped her from ignoring the duties such fame bought for as long as possible.
