Overall Description: Although a goddess, and guaranteed to be beautiful, Melpomene's beauty comes from a facade of innocence. She dresses modestly, with strapped sandals, white robe, and and a cyprus crown on her head. Her hair is straight, but is slightly wavy at the ends. Fair-skinned and graceful, she is known, unlike other radiant goddesses, to have an occasdionally gaunt appearence (which occurs when she is following a particularly tragic story), but is quicck to bounce back in normal form afterwards. Fair skinned, she too is attached to the epithet white-armed. Expression is usually kindly, with a slight smile on her face and eyes wide open.
LET'S GET TO KNOW YOU BETTER ' '
Personality Description: Melpomene exudes innocence and shyness towards the other goddesses; a defense mechanism to avoid conflict with them. Demure and quiet around her sisters and their companions, she acts as if she is no threat to their power or relationships, as she iknows how overconfidence can cause suspicion and eventual death or torture. She, however, is very wise of the world and its woes, and is by no means innocent to heartbreak, violence, and revenge. She wishes to cause no such harm onto others, and is generally kind and helpful towards both god and mortal. Knowing how ones fate cannot be changed, she feels slight guilt and sadness towards the mortals whose lives she writes about, and wishes that somehow she could help them in her troubles. But, as dictated by her father and duty, she is committed to writing the story, no matter how tragic.

' ' WELCOME TO MY LIFE
Spouse/Lover: Was claimed to be involved with Akheloios, a river god, and bore the Sirens
Relationship Status: Single
Family:
Father~ Zeus
Mother~ Mnemosyne
Sisters ~ Calliope, Clio, Erato, Euterpe, Polyhymnia, Terpsichore, Thalia, Urania
History: After nine nights together, Zeus and Mnemosyne produced the nine Muses, including Melpomene and her sisters. She originally was the Muse of Singing, but after seeing the sorriness and irony or mortal life, as they attempted to control their fate and evetually be brought down by their own flaws, she became the Muse of Tragedy; not to metion the fact was would have been competing with her sister Polyhymnia. She, like a few of her sisters, was known to be involved with a river god, but has not spoken to him in recent times, and does not seem interested in love or marriage at the moment. She is much more focused on her work, which includes inspiring tragic writers and actors across Greece and watching her sisters and their 'shenanigans'. Her view, from the time she had been involved with the river god, was that such matters meant little and that gods of such importance shouldn't be occupied by silly romances, but in their work towards watching and assisting mortals.

Roleplaying Sample: It has been a week since I had claimed my homeland in the Land of the Mist. The land is glorious, but was missing a vital part; inhabitants. One horse just wasn't enough; I want wild foals running up and down the hills, their mothers grazing peacefully, husbands conversing with their wives and companions. Just like my old home by the sea, I yearned for a sense of community and structure; something I could never achieve by myself. I needed mares, stallions, fillies, colts, an advisor, a queen...
A queen. That was quite a sore subject for me, ever since I had lost my love those many years ago. Poor rose-haired Andromache, whose rose-grey coat shone under the sun more vibrantly, her eyes shone more brightly, her voice melted my heart more than any other mare ever could. I missed her soft touch, her kind words, and the greatest gift she ever gave me; my only son, black-pelted Astynax. He is, unfortunately, dead and rotted by now. To think, if he hadn't been slain by that cruel-hearted stallion, he would have inherited his father's kingdom.
Nonetheless, I pushed those feelings to the back of my brain. Right now, I had to start my search for wandering mares and foals, a good place to start, I thought. As I trotted along the dry ground, I first noticed a mare of unusual color. Most of the horses in my old herds were bay, grey, or brown. It was a pretty color, and I knew that I would have to ask her about it later. But, for now, I thought of it best to introduce myself first:
"Greetings, mi'lady. I am Hector, son of Priam and king of the Cimmaron herd. May I ask you name and calling?" I bowed my head low in respect; first impressions are everything.
