Being A Major God he does get Crabby and tent to do Nasty thing to Humans who deeply annoy him but its rare he does. He has a Business like mind and will always do something for you... History:
As a Child he was swallowed by his Dad Kronos who thought his Sons and Daughters might overthrow him like did to his Dad. Zeus was hidden from him and eventually freed His Brothers and Sisters who were immortal and growing in their Dads stomach. This Sparked off a War.
The Titans got really annoyed at this and Zeus led the Olympians in a Full-Scale God war against the Titans with his Dad leading the Titans. This would prove to be explosive but eventually The Olympians won. Zeus Posseidon and Hades drew lots on who would get what. Zeus got ruler of The Heavens and the Other Gods. Posseidon got the Sea. Which left Hades with the Underworld to Guard Tartarus.
hades got a lot of bad Publicity because of his Job as God of the Underworld but he didn't mind because he hardly went up to the surface.
The consort of Hades was Persephone, represented by the Greeks as daughter of Zeus and Demeter. Persephone did not submit to Hades willingly, but was abducted by him while picking flowers with her friends. Persephone's mother missed her and without her daughter by her side she cast a curse on the land and there was a great famine. Hades tricked Persephone into eating pomegranate seeds (though some stories say they fell in love and to ensure her return to him, he gave her the pomegranate seeds)
"But he on his part secretly gave her sweet pomegranate seed to eat, taking care for himself that she might not remain continually with grave, dark- robed Demeter."
Demeter questioned Persephone on her return to light and air:
"…but if you have tasted food, you must go back again beneath the secret places of the earth, there to dwell a third part of the seasons every year: yet for the two parts you shall be with me and the other deathless gods."
Thus every year Hades fights his way back to the land of the living with Persephone in his chariot. Famine (autumn and winter) occurs during the months that Persephone is gone and Demeter grieves in her absence.

Roleplaying Sample: Hades loved his Palace. He'd Stride around it with his servants rushing about the place with their menial Jobs. Now and again Hades would trip one up for a laugh but today he wasn't in that mood.
He Rushed past the Garden that was planted in Persephones name and the servants tending it crumbled to dust from Hades's Bad Mood. He needed Persephone to calm him down but it wasn't the time of year she spent in the Underworld so he'd have to calm down himself but it wasn't easy. Last Time he tried to calm down by his-self he managed to kill 30 people in what people called a "Mining Accident" This time Hades thought he could cool down by Disintegrating some Servants and luckily it was working as one by one the servants fell as he walked past
