OK guys, which one do you like the most? Twilight or Harry Potter or none of them (if you don't read them) or both? If you like Harry Potter/Twilight, give us your pros and cons, why you like it and why you dislike the other one
Starting from me. I prefer, this is so hard but I gotta choose, Twilight. No offense JK Rowling, I love HP too, but this is a tough decision >.<
Twilight 1. The language is easier to understand, since it uses American English. The story is easier to follow too. Not too complicated. Well, guess it's just me ;D 2. I can't put down the book, it gets me really curious and I want to know what happens next 3. The end is predictable
Edward and Bella live happily ever after with their daughter, Renesmee. If one of them dies, I bet Twilight will lose its fans... *sounds harsh, doesn't it*? 4. The 4th and last book has just been released in America and people aren't very dying to wait for it, not as eager as waiting for Deathly Hallows 5. The readers are mostly girls (teens) who dream to have a boyfriend as perfect as Edward *dreamy eyes*. Well, to be honest I prefer Jacob Black
Harry Potter 1. Since I read the Bloomsbury one, it gets really hard to understand, since it uses British English ;D 2. The plot is not too difficult though 3. The end is unpredictable 4. HP lovers were dying to wait for every sequel's release. We know that Rowling wouldn't let Harry die 5. Fit for all ages, though mostly young adults but that doesn't mean older and younger readers (especially children) aren't able to read it.
About the movies, I think I prefer both. I really can't decide to choose which one is better between Twilight and HP movies. They're both awesome. Though I'm pretty disappointed with Order of the Phoenix.

lol It looks like you hate HP so much. But let's face it, since Twilight (either the books and the movie) came out, everyone like, instantly forgot about HP, like they all turned to Twilight. Though in some forum discussions, I see people who are still pro-HP

LOL I would never say I hate anything really, but I find it tedious to like something like HP, and it isn't because of racism, I love people but the author seems unlike a good writer should be. She simply copy-pasted things and in my likes that is truly unoriginal, and well if you compare her to Tolkien I guess he based himself on things, like us writers always do for there are things that inspire us. But he did much more than simply be inspired, he reached the hearts of many and I think he created an English mythology unlike any other and I myself own an RPG forum and it has been going for almost 6 years or more. When something is really good it lasts for ages

JRR Tolkien, well, he's just a real author and you know that everybody loves LOTR. I think that's because JK Rowling doesn't have many experiences in English Literature and Creative Writing, so she doesn't know how to really attract the readers with her books. As far as I know, people are only interested with the storyline, but not attracted with the way she tells the story (based on my opinion and my friends')
Meanwhile, Twilight, the story is simple, but the way how Stephenie Meyer tells it really makes the readers addicted. She has some nice phrases and no wonder, Stephenie has a background in creative writing and English literature. The way she tells the story can't make readers put the book down

I suppose you are right though I expect to have that very ability at present since I have some books that I haven't dared to publish

I'll have to place my vote on Harry Potter. I'm a writer myself and Twilight has so many mistakes it's not even funny. Being the harsh author/editor that I am I would have to place the Twilight series on my list of 'Worst Stories Ever Written.'
Of course the story grabs the attention of many girls and women because of the romance between Bella and Edward. And I would have to agree that the corny chunk of romance is fun to read, but then again it's the only thing I am able to stand. Beyond that the plot needs to be enforced, the characters are two-dimensional, and the overall writing isn't fantastic; it actually reminds me of my old stories back in seventh grade. And there are NO men in this entire world that are PERFECT! Twilight gives a false image to young women about relationships and in what the 'perfect man should be.' Not to mention Bella is the last character I would go to for a liable role-model for girls.
Now, Harry Potter on the other hand has everything Twilight lacks. A detailed and thought out plot, believable characters, and decent writing (although not the best.) Although the overall plot of a 'Wizard School' wasn't original there are many aspects in the Harry Potter world that are. To me it's one of the best stories out there depicting the lives of a Wizarding Community among humans.
The Lord of the Rings is awesome; a classic. Though it is not the first of its kind and if you look back farther you can find obvious stories J.R.R Tolkien based his off of. It actually uses a lot of Norse myth and when it comes down to it none of his stuff is that original. And though his writing is intricately detailed it is enough to bore one out of their mind. I love the series, but it's definitely not the best.
I would have to say Narnia tops them all. The stories are sweet and to the point. Not to mention C.S.Lewis's writing is simple, but addicting and leaves the reader wanting more. Plus, I have not seen any stories to date that match this writing in style or plot.~
