Once upon a time...
No, this is no fairytale. No happy ending dwells within these words. Instead, this a tragic love story - one with its share of passion, of pain, of betrayal. And of monsters.
Long ago, when the world was still new, there lived a beautiful young maiden by the name of Artemis. She was lovely and kind, and spent her life in the pursuit of something truly good. The gods, seeing her goodness, saw it fit to grant her the gift all men seek - immortality. She would live through all the years of the world, see things age that none others ever could.
And then she met a prince, as most tales will say. But this prince was no charmer - he was a killer by nature. His name was Vlad Dracula to those who knew him, Vlad Tepes to those who didn't. Yet despite the rumours of torture and savage murder that seemed to cling to his name, Artemis fell in love with him. It blinded her to his atrocities and made her yearn to spend the rest of her immortal life with him. So she begged the gods to give him the life she herself held, the power. Seeing the escapable love that burned with the maiden, the gods agreed. Vlad was given new life.
Yet he could not turn his back on the old ways; he could not satiate his lust for killing. One night, when the hunger for death had grown too great for Vlad to resist, he took a human life. The gods cursed him for such an act and bound him to darkness. Never would he see the light of day again, or look upon the holy items of the world. For he was a monster, a demon that fed off of living blood to survive.
The beautiful Artemis wept for her lost love, but she did not forgive Vlad for the life he had taken. Instead, she made an oath to destroy him, and to protect all humans from his evilness. She built an army of Light to help keep the shadows of the world at bay, to protect the life which had always been so precious to her. In retaliation, Vlad raised his own forces - an army of Darkness. These were the murderers of the land, those who felt no love for human life. And ever since the war between good and evil, between Light and Dark, has been raging.
Shall you dwell in Darkness? Or will you Light the world with hope? Make your choice, Stranger, and join...
